I have the network WiFi driver Intel 5100 AGN which is not supported yet by Intel (for my HP dv6 Pavilion laptop). After the last Windows 10 update, I experienced a blue screen with a stopcode.
Hi,Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern and I am glad to assist you.Sorry for the inconvenience caused.I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue and also you interest in Windows 10.You may need to update the drivers from the device manager and check.Disable the Wi-Fi adapter and enable it.Refer to the wiki article by Andre Da Costa on how to download drivers in Windows 10Also refer to the section on how to run programs in compatible mode.Hope this post is helpful. Get back to us with the results.
We are happy to help. I've tried driver in compatability mode but it did not help.In all my tries: in device manager everything seems fine, no errors.
I've tried event with Microsoft, even with Intel driver. But anyway the Wi-Fi tab in Internet & Settings is always missing.I've tried a diagnose (right-click on wifi device in Network connections window) - it shows the following message (among others):'Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.' I am totally lost - is the driver the real problem or something else. THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED!!!!It was not a driver problem with 'Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN'!!! The problem was that the service 'Automatic configuration of WLAN' was disabled.
After enabling and starting it - all WIFI functionality is back and working (for both Intel card and externalUSB dongle). So, the integrated 'Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN' Microsoft driver (Microsoft/7.10.2011/14.2.1.4) is working! In a summary: the migration from Windows 7 Ultra to Windows 8 on a Dell Lattitude E6400 is finished with no issues in hardware compatability (although Dell says in their web page that this model is not confirmed to be Windows 10 compatible).Anyway, thank you for help. Hope this information can help somebody else.
